When does the price increase for each of the event options?

All event options will increase at midnight on 29th Feb from the super early bird pricing to the Early bird pricing. There will also be a late fee for each of the event options after online entries close at 10am on Thursday 2nd May.

I have already registered but I need to purchase a bus, Saturday dinner ticket, event tee/hat etc.

Click on the link within your registration confirmation email and you can add addition items such as transport, tickets, apparel etc to your registration.

I can’t make it to the event anymore, what do I do?

If you can’t make the event for whatever reason, let us know up until 7 days before the event and we can set-up a credit for the money you paid minus a $20 admin fee. This credit can be used for any total sport event for the next 12 months. To do this, email tauporego@totalsport.co.nz

I’m bringing my family, how do I get the 15% discount?

A 15% discount off the total entry fees will be automatically applied when at least 1 adult and 1 child are entered.

I’m bringing a group, how do I get the 10% discount?

A 10% discount is available for groups of 10+ people. Once you have at least 10 people in your group email tauporego@totalsport.co.nz for a discount code or to organise a group invoice.

Do I have to bring special equipment for the event?

All participants in the 46km Mountain Bike, Marathon, and 24km Adventure Run & Walk will be required to have the following compulsory gear items at registration. There is no compulsory gear required for the 11km and 6.5km options but it is advised that participants carry a rain jacket, thermal top and liquid especially if the weather is bad. Gear checks for the 46km Mountain Bike, Marathon and 24km Adventure Run & Walk will be carried out at registration and there will also be random checks on Saturday morning at the start line. No gear – no event.

Compulsory Gear List:

  • Beanie – polypropylene or wool

  • Long-sleeve thermal top

  • Full-fingered gloves – polypropylene or wool

  • Jacket – seam sealed

  • Whistle

  • Safety blanket

Event Registration

Where can I register myself before the event?

The pre / post event base will be at The Park Hotel Ruapehu, this is where the pre-registration will be.

What time is registration open on Friday?

Registration is on Friday 3rd May, from 5pm – 8pm and we encourage all entrants to attend between these times. Late registration will be available on the Saturday morning (see below).

Can I register on the event morning if I cannot make it on Friday?

Yes. Late registration (Saturday morning):

  • 46km MTB @ Taurewa Station Whakapapa Intake Rd (your start line) from 7.00am – 8.30am

  • Marathon @ Taurewa Station Whakapapa Intake Rd (then bus to start at 8.40am) from 7.00am – 8.30am

  • 24km, 11km and 6km run/walks @ Owhango Domain from 8.00am to 10.00am

I registered myself on Friday night, when should I arrive on Saturday morning?

If you have registered on Friday night you do not need to re-register on Saturday morning – arrive at least 30 mins before your start time, to allow time for parking, a quick warm up, and the race briefing.

At-Event

Will there be food options available at the event?

There sure will be – the Owhango Residents will have the BBQ’s fired up as always – make sure you try one of the ‘world famous in Owhango’ burgers!

Will there be beverage options available at the event?

Yes, there will be a range of non-alcoholic (water, electrolyte and soft drinks) beverages available for purchase at the event.

Do I need to bring cash to purchase food and beverages at the event or is there eftpos?

Cash is king!

Is there somewhere that I can leave my belongings while I’m taking part in my event?

Yes, we have a secure, dry, gear check area where you’ll tag your bag with your name and race number and the Total Sport staff will look after it for you until you’re ready to collect it. For those doing the mountain bike and marathon events you can tag and leave your bag with Total Sport staff at your start line, and they will be transported to the finish line for you

I have young children, is there a child-minding service available at the T42?

No, not at this one sorry.

When is prize giving?

There will be 2 merit prize givings. The first will be for merit prizes for the 6km, 11km and 24km walk/run events; this will be at the event base (Owhango Domain) at 1.00pm. The main prize giving will be at 5.30pm at The Park Hotel Ruapehu Hotel where the merit prizes for the Marathon and Mountain Bike events will be given out. Both prizegiving’s will have spot prizes (our awesome bunch of other spot prizes will be given out at random across the finish line).

Who will receive a merit trophy?

1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female in all event categories will receive a trophy.

Post Event- Buffet dinner

I’ve heard about the awesome Saturday night dinner at The Park, what’s the deal there?

The T42 Celebration Barbeque dinner costs $35.00 per adult ($17.50 for children 13 years and under) and will be served from 6.00pm in The Park Hotel Ruapehu dining/lounge area on Saturday after the prize giving proceedings.

Pre-bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased during the online entry process up until 10am Monday 29 April (individual tickets will be available for collection when registering for the event at The Park Hotel Ruapehu on the Friday evening).

From 5.00pm Monday 29 April, a limited number of tickets can be purchased directly through The Park Hotel Ruapehu, Ph 0800 800 491 or email bookings@the-park.co.nz and will need to be secured with a valid credit card number.

Due to The Park’s food ordering requirements, tickets required after 3pm Tuesday 30 April will be subject to availability. Get in early folks!
