Entering Online

When does the price increase for each of the event options?

The pricing levels for all event options will increase on Tuesday 31st January (mid-night on Monday 30th) from the early bird pricing to the standard pricing. There will also be a late fee for each of the event options after 3pm Thursday 4th May.

When do online entries close?

Online entries close at 3pm Thursday 4th May.

I have already registered but I need to purchase a bus, Saturday BBQ dinner ticket, event tee/hat etc.

Click on the link within your registration confirmation email and you can add addition items such as transport, tickets, apparel etc to your registration.

I can’t make it to the event anymore, what do I do?


If you can’t make the event for whatever reason, let us know up until 7 days before the event and we can set-up a credit for the money you paid minus a $15 admin fee. This credit can be used for any total sport event for the next 12 months. To do this, email susanbd@totalsport.co.nz

What time does my event start?

  • 48km MTB 9am Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station
  • 42.2km Marathon 9.30am Kapoors Road (can be dropped off at start but no cars to be left here for day)

How do I get to the various start/event locations?

From Turangi to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station

Follow State Highway 47 for approximately 33km toward the National Park Village. You’ll pass the entrance to Kapoors Road, Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station is 700m past this point on the right. There is loads of off-road parking available.

From to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station

Follow State Highway 47 for approximately 15km toward Turangi (past the Chateau Tongariro turnoff). Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station is on the left before you get to Kapoors Road.

From Turangi to Owhango Domain

From Taumaranui follow State Highway 4 toward the for approximately 20km to Owhango. The Domain is on the left off the highway as you enter Owhango – follow the event signs.

From National Park Village to Owhango Domain

From National Park follow State Highway 4 toward Taumaranui approximately 20km to Owhango. The Domain is on the right off the highway as you enter Owhango – follow the event signs.

Do I have to bring special equipment for the event?

All participants in the 48km Mountain Bike, Marathon, and 24km Adventure Run & Walk will be required to have the following compulsory gear items at registration. There is no compulsory gear required for the 13km and 6.5km options but it is advised that participants carry a rain jacket, thermal top and liquid especially if the weather is bad. Gear checks for the 48km Mountain Bike, Marathon and 24km Adventure Run & Walk will be carried out at registration and there will also be random checks on Saturday morning at the start line. No gear – no event.

Compulsory Gear List:

  • Beanie – polypropylene or wool
  • Spare long-sleeve thermal top (ie. if you are wearing one, you also need to be carrying one)
  • Full-fingered gloves – polypropylene or wool
  • Tights – polypropylene or wool
  • Jacket – seam sealed
  • Basic first aid kit including; 2m x 50mm strapping tape, 1x 50mm crepe bandage, 4x gauze pads, 6x painkillers, 75mm self adhesive bandage strip
  • Whistle
  • Safety blanket

Transport

I’m participating in the Mountain bike event. What are my transport options?

It is expected that mountain bikers will drive themselves and their mountain bikes, or get dropped off by support crew, at the start of the 48km Mountain Bike event at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station. Once you have completed your event at Owhango Domain, you will be asked to check your bike in at the ‘transport departure area’. We will then transport your bike back to The Park where your bike will be racked in the car park and can be collected any time before 7.00pm.

You will then be able to relax at the finish line, and enjoy the festivities. You’ll then catch a bus back to your car at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station and drive to The Park Hotel Ruapehu (10 mins) to collect your bike. There will be security at The Park Hotel Ruapehu until 7.00pm, after this time we take no responsibility for your bike – so please collect it before then.

This transport must be booked by 3pm Thursday 4th May – you can do this during the entry process or if you missed out booking your bus whilst entering then you can do so by clicking on the link within your registration confirmation email to add additional items.

Mountain Bike Transport Schedule:

  • 7.30am – 8.30am Mountain bikers arrive at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station in their own transport with their mountain bikes
  • 8.45am Mountain Bike race briefing
  • 9.00am Mountain Bike event starts at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station
  • From 11.00am buses will leave Owhango Domain (finish line) and return to The Park and then onto Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station for those that need to collect their vehicles.
  • From 11.00am bikes will be transported from Owhango Domain back to The Park Hotel Ruapehu where they will be racked and can be collected before 7.00pm

Transport Pricing

  • Owhango Domain to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station (to collect your car) = $20.00 one way
  • Owhango Domain to The Park Hotel Ruapehu, (post race) = $15.00 one way

I’m running the Marathon. How will I get to the start line?

Bus transport is available from The Park Hotel Ruapehu to the start point of the Marathon event, and then from the finish at Owhango Domain back to The Park Hotel Ruapehu. (and to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station for those that leave their car there)

If you are a marathon runner who needs to register on Saturday morning, you will do so at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station, and then catch the bus from there to your start line. (there is also a return bus to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station for those that need to leave their car there)
This transport must be booked by 3pm Thursday 4th May – you can do this during the entry process or if you missed out, click on the link within your registration confirmation email and you can add addition items such as transport, tickets, apparel etc to your registration.

Marathon Transport Schedule:

  • 8.10am Marathon bus leaves The Park, to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station for the Marathon start
  • 8.25am Bus arrives Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station (start of mountain bike event) to collect any people who register Saturday morning or people who prefer to leave their cars at Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station.
  • 8.35am Bus departs Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station to go to the Marathon start. *THERE IS NO ALL DAY PARKING AT THE MARATHON START, YOU MUST BE DROPPED OFF OR CATCH THE BUS.
  • 8.45am Bus arrives at the start of the Marathon event which is at the Pumice Pit at the end of Kapoors Road
  • 9.15am Marathon race briefing
  • 9.30am Marathon event starts
  • From 11.00am buses will be leaving Owhango Domain (finish line) and return to The Park and then onto Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station for those that need to collect their vehicles from there.

Transport Pricing

  • The Park Hotel Ruapehu, to the Marathon start = $15.00 one way
  • If you are a marathoner and wish to leave your car at the mountain bike start (Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station) there will be a bus pickup available to take you to the marathon start = $10.00 one way
  • Owhango Domain to The Park Hotel Ruapehu, (post race) = $15.00 one way
  • Owhango Domain to Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station (post race) = $20.00 one way

I’m doing the 24km, 11km or 6.5km Trail Run/Walk course. How will I get to the start line?

Things are a little simpler for you as your start and finish line are in the same place. However, if you require a bus back to the Park Hotel from the Owhango Domain (your start and finish line). This transport must be booked by 3pm Thursday 4th May – you can do this during the entry process or if you missed out, click on the link within your registration confirmation email and you can add addition items such as transport, tickets, apparel etc to your registration..
24km, 11km and 6.5km Transport Schedule:

  • From 11.00am buses will be leaving Owhango Domain (start/finish line) and heading back to The Park Hotel Ruapehu

Event Registration

  • Where can I register myself before the event?The pre / post event base will be at The Park Hotel Ruapehu, this is where the pre-registration will be.What time is registration open on Friday?There will be a pre-event registration on Friday 5th May, from 4pm – 10pm and we encourage all entrants to attend between these times. Late registration will be available on the Saturday morning (see below).Can I register on the event morning if I cannot make it on Friday?Yes. Late registration (Saturday morning):
    • 48km MTB @ Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station (your start line) from 7.00am – 8.30am
    • Marathon @ Landcorp Farm – Taurewa Station (then bus to start at 8.40am) from 7.00am – 8.30am
    • 24km, 11km and 6.5km run/walks @ Owhango Domain from 8.00am to 10.00am

    I registered myself on Friday night, when should I arrive on Saturday morning?

    If you have registered on Friday night you do not need to re-register on Saturday morning – arrive at least 30 mins before your start time, to allow time for parking, a quick warm up, and the race briefing.

    At-Event

    Will there be food options available at the event?

    There sure will be – the Owhango Residents will have the BBQ’s fired up as always – make sure you try one of the ‘world famous in Owhango’ burgers!

    Will there be beverage options available at the event?

    Yes, there will be a range of alcoholic (beer and cider) and non-alcoholic (water, electrolyte and soft drinks) beverages available for purchase at the event.

    Do I need to bring cash to purchase food and beverages at the event or is there eftpos?

    Cash is king!

    Is there somewhere that I can leave my belongings while I’m taking part in my event?

    Yes, we have a secure, dry, gear check area where you’ll tag your bag with your name and race number and the Total Sport staff will look after it for you until you’re ready to collect it. For those doing the mountain bike and marathon events you can tag and leave your bag with Total Sport staff at your start line, and they will be transported to the finish line for you

    I have young children, is there a child-minding service available at the T42?

    No, not at this one sorry.

    When is prize giving?

    There will be 2 merit prize-giving’s. The first will be for merit prizes for the 6.5km, 11km and 24km walk/run events; this will be at the event base (Owhango Domain) at 1.00pm. The main prize giving will be at 5.30m at The Park Hotel Ruapehu Hotel where the merit prizes for the Marathon and Mountain Bike events will be given out, as well as the major spot prizes (our awesome bunch of other spot prizes will be given out at random across the finish line).

    Who will receive a merit trophy?

    1st place male and female in each event will receive a trophy and certificate. 2nd and 3rd in each event and age categories in the Marathon and Mountain Bike event will receive name recognition at prize giving.

    Post Event

    I’ve heard about the awesome Saturday night dinner at The Park, what’s the deal there?

    The T42 Celebration Barbeque dinner costs $35.00 per adult (half price for children 12 years and under) and will be served from 6.00pm in The Park Hotel Ruapehu dining/lounge area on Saturday after the prize giving proceedings.

    Pre-bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased during the online entry process or up until 3pm Thursday 4th May (individual tickets will be available for collection when registering for the event at The Park Hotel Ruapehu on the Friday evening).

    From 5.00pm Thursday 4th May, a limited number of tickets can be purchased directly through The Park Hotel Ruapehu, Ph 0800 800 491 or email bookings@the-park.co.nz and will need to be secured with a valid credit card number.

    Due to The Park’s food ordering requirements BBQ tickets required after 3pm Thursday 4th May will be subject to availability. Get in early folks!
